Overnight in Banff in a Stranger’s Van

Meeting Dave Jongerden

This is my new Kijiji friend, @davebradly. He arrived on my doorstep last week to purchase my camera backpack. I could tell from the look on his face that the bag wasn’t what he’d envisioned, but he took it anyways (so now we know he’s likely a good guy), and after a quick exchange, he was on his way again in his cool van.

A few days later he invited me to go hiking with him. This is the point where most people might say “hmm, sketchy, there is a possibility of getting murdered in this scenario”. So, naturally, this weekend I tossed my pack into the back of a stranger’s van and we drove to Banff without plans.

I am happy to report that I am still alive, and even better than that, we enjoyed the weekend with beautiful people, good music, unbelievable scenery, and the best food, all somehow in both “fall” and “winter” scenic conditions. I remember when my parents used to warn me not to get into a stranger’s van.. Sorry mum. ❤️
